BUILDING TECHNOLOGY I
MODULE OUTLINE
In this module, students will be exposed to a more extensive study of building construction by investigating the latest and more advanced technology and practice of the industry, from site analysis to all the advanced construction systems, energy efficiency, facade systems, architectural technology as well as the latest construction methods. In addition it also intends to expose students to the study of construction through case studies of existing buildings and applying the construction methods and systems of the building into their own design while addressing the issues pertaining to ecological impact.

In this project, we were divided into groups of 5 where students are required to design an apartment which implements the industrialised building system in it. A report and physical model are required to explain and interpret the construction process and elements which are involved in the IBS.

REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Through this project, I was able to get an insight of the IBS system from the beginning till the end of the process of pre-fabrication to construction and towards completion. This is considered as a new technology in Malaysia which is still not widely implemented in building constructions. Hence, it is a very useful knowledge and exposure to gain from this project towards the new system which has a faster speed of construction and required a certain level of accuracy.
PROJECT 2 : CONSTRUCTION SOLUTIONS
In this project, we are required to conduct precedent studies on the construction system as well as facade system of buildings to be implemented into our studio design - the community library.

REFLECTION
Through this project, I was able to learn the proper construction method, elements, connection and process through the precedent studies and imply them into my own building. On the other hand, I have also gained exposure towards facade systems which I had never been exposed to. Through the whole process of research and study, I was able to pick up various construction methods with different ways of connections to a certain level of detail which will aid me in terms of the structural aspects of a building.
