D.S III
ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN STUDIO III
MODULE OUTLINE
This studio emphasises on the poetics of place and the experiential qualities of space in architecture. In the module, students are introduced to exploration of spatial typologies and poetics in architecture as well as the concept of neighbourhood and community. Students will be engaged with literature studies and interpretation as well as translating into design of different spatial typologies which explore the idea of architectural tectonics and experiences.
PROJECT 1 : JOURNEY OF THE 5 SENSES
In this project, we were divided into groups of 5 where students have to choose a VIC from the list given. Students are then required to carry out case study on the chosen VIC and have our own interpretation on the spatial poetics of the VIC as well as building analysis. The final submission requirements are spatial models and 3 A2 boards.

REFLECTION
Through this project, I was able to have a deeper understanding and knowledge on the implementation of poetic design which brings the building to life and connect with the visitors . On the other hand, I have also learnt how to draw analytical diagrams to portray architectural informations.
PROJECT 2 : VISITOR INTERPRETIVE CENTRE
In this project, we were divided into 12 groups where we had our on site visit to Sekinchan to carry out our site analysis. Then, students were to choose their site which is either the Bagan fish village or the Sekinchan paddy field. Students are to design their own VIC on the site they have chosen with given requirements, at the same time not neglecting the poetic essence and genius loci of the VIC.

REFLECTION
This project is the most stressful project that I have been through for the 3 semester I have been through. Despite being so stressful about this project, I still gained a lot of knowledge and new ways of generating ideas. Special thanks to my tutor, Mr.Way Keat for always being so generous to give ideas and opinions to improve my design. From this project, I have learnt my lesson to have better time management in producing works during tutorials and to attend every tutorials. On the other hand, I have learn how to design with purpose where every design element implemented has a poetic and architecture purpose. All in all, this project also forces me to improve my computer application skills as I am very bad at using digital applications like photoshop, 3Ds Max and Revit. Hence, this project act as a platform where I was forced to squeeze out everything I have to give my best of it.
