Assignment 1:

 Compare & Contrast Essay

Project Brief:

According to the brief, the requirements of the essay are :

 

  1. Decide on the genre that we would like to attempt for this assignment

  2. Next, look through materials published on this genre to gain a better understanding of what it is all about.

  3. Attend tutorials for Ms. Cass to check our work so as to ensure we  are on the right track.

  4. Then, start viewing the chosen movies again to work on the comparison and contrast essay.

  5. Start brainstorming and working on our pre-writing.

  6. Work on an 80% complete draft to show Ms.Cass before the due date.

  7. Sumission

Action-comedy films / Animated Films

I chose to work on animated films as I love to watch them since young. In addition, I will get to re-watch both of my favourite animated films where I have an excuse which is for assignment purpose! 

 

The 2 animated films I chose was, "Ratatouille" and "Alpha and Omega"

My essay:

Reflection:

Through this project, I have learnt to write a compare and contrast essay. I have learned to use terms and connectors in my essay sentences to show the comparism between both of the animated films. Besides, I also learnt how to prepare points for a compare and contrast essay which is to write down my points in a table form before starting my pre-writing. By using a table form, all the points were stated very cleary and it will be easier to write them out in an essay form.

 

       Ms. Cass commented on one of the point in my essay was not strong enough where it was too general. I was quite upset at first as I did show my completed essay to Ms. Cass before submitting it during the tutorials. Ms. Cass said I can submit it and the comment she gave was good. But when I got my grades for the essay, I was dissapointed as I did not score quite well. The reason behind it is because the point of my last paragraph which was the differences on the background of the movies. The point was not strong enough. However, I accepted it willingly as I treat it as a motivation for me to strive harder in other projects.

 

       Lastly, I am very grateful that this project was given to me as I was able to enjoy watching my all time favourite animated films as well as complete my project at the same time.
