Project 2 : Mural Art

MURAL ART AT LAMAN SENI 7 , SHAH ALAM

Project Brief:

In this project, students were required to choose 4 mural arts from Klang Valley. After choosing the mural arts, students were then asked to analyze the mural paintings according to the effective public communication concepts teached during the lecture classes.

Each of the description of mural arts must include the following criteria:

Artist’s background.
Description of the mural art.
Identify and analyse five Effective Public Communication concepts found on the chosen art work.

Lastly, studetns were required to prepare presentation slides to present all the mural arts that we have chosen.

My group consist of 5 people:

Journey to Laman Seni 7, Shah Alam

We went to Laman Seni 7, Shah Alam on the 1st of November 2015, which is a Sunday. Ashley dad fetched us to our destination where we walked along the back lane of the shop lots there which is where all the mural arts were painted.

We searched for the mural arts that we have chosen and took our group photo with each of them.

After we have taken all the photos, we went to look at the other mural arts as well. We read the description of each mural art where we gained much inspiration after viewing and analyzing each of them.

Then, we went to a nearby mall to have lunch at Nandos'. We even ate a bingsu and a yougurt ice cream after that. It was an enjoyable and unforgettable day.

We went back to our respective house around 4.00pm in the evening.

The mural arts that we have chosen are, " Portrait " , " The Floor " , " Owl " , and " The Courtyard ". All of the mural art chosen has a human character in it as required by Ms. Lojana.

Reflection:

Through this project, I was able to see things that I had never seen in my whole life. I have lived for 19 years and this was the first time I have seen a whole row of incredible mural arts. On the other hand, I was able to gain inspiration from each of the mural arts as thier creativity and imagination are beyond boundaries.

Besides, I was able to further my research on different effective public communication concepts like space, subjective perception, mass communication and many more. I managed to imply all of the concepts in the artworks where I analyzed them accordingly with the meaning and definition of each concepts.

Lastly, I am grateful that I have chosen to take this subject as I was able to gain much knowledge and apply them in my daily lives. In this project, I realized that communication does not depend merely on verbal communication. It can be in a form of gesture, an art, a painting or even a melody. Therefore, I will be more obsertive in realizing the different concepts of EPC happening around me in the future.

I have further my knowledge on the different EPC concepts and how it is being potrayed in the mural arts.

Digital Literacy

I have improved my skills in using computered softwares like pages, keynotes and power point. On the other hand, I also got to learn a few tricks in taking photos using a DSLR.

Communication Skills

I have learnt how to communicate with all my group mates during our discussion and meetings to come out with the concepts.

Lifelong Learning

I learned how to create an artwork which has a strong concept and message in it.
