Project 1 : Photo Blog

FOOD , CULTURE & ARCHITECTURE

Project Brief:

In this project, students were required to form a group of 5-6 people. Then, the group will have to decide on their prefered destination so as to further their research based on the 3 aspects which are food, culture and architecture of the chosen place.

After the trip, each group will be required to produce a photo blog  which consists of 25 to 30 photos of a particular setting or scene at any one chosen location of their choice. In addition to that, students are to include a necessary write-up about 20 to 30 words per picture, together with captions to further highlight  their story on the blog. The photos should focus on or portray life in the following areas:

  1. People – ethnic background, gender, age, description of clothes.

  2. Food – types of food available or food presentation at hawker stalls or restaurants.

  3. Activities – kinds of activities found in the surrounding of the suggested location.

  4. Cultural conservation on buildings – Façade, interior and exterior design of the building and ornamentation.

A UNFORGETTABLE JOURNEY TO BUKIT TINGGI

Reflection:

Through this project, I have gained a chance to visit the French and Japanese village. I was able to enjoy french and japanese food, culture, and architecture. In addition, I had a chance to witness all of them without even travelling overseas which will cost a lot more than this trip.

On the other hand, I get to improve my communication skills as we have to plan the whole trip together. Besides, I also get to know more about my friends and thanks to this project, I am given extra time to fellowship with them.

The most valuable thing that I have learned through this project is the French architecture. I was amazed when I enter the French village. The design of the buildings are totally different from the buildings in Malaysia. I find it very interesting to observe, analyze and research on the design element there.

In a nutshell, I really enjoy the whole process eventhough this was a project. It was an enjoyable trip for me instead of a stressful project. As for the photo blog, I think it is very meaningful as it records every detail and process we had through our whole trip.
