Project 1: Group Work

Infographic Pop-up Poster & Documentary Video

For the group work for this project, studetns were required to make a documentary video and an infographic pop-up poster.

The idea of the documentary video is for the students to share their experiences from The Kuala Selangor Nature Park. The aim of the video is to inspire others and to act  as an awareness video to all.

Requirements of the video:

1. An introduction about the site and project.

2. The students experiencethe

    -things that excite their senses

3. A conclusion with an awareness

On the other hand, students were also required to make a an infographic pop-up poster which includes further investigation regarding the information that they have collected from the site according to their chosen theme.

Requirements of infographic pop-up poster:

1. Introduction and description about the project

-the theme/topic/subject of the group information. 2. Your Site

3.  The “habitat” characteristic

-the relationship between each subject at the site

4. Detail information about natural elements on site such as plants, animals, insects and soil type.

Project Brief:

Process:

We had a few discussion on the theme and we ended up deciding on the theme " Life in The Mud "

We started to do our research on our topic together where we covered the characteristics of the mud and the living things in it.

Our First Draft::

TEAM SHINE LIKE RIHANNA!!

1. Lee Yet Yee ( Me )            4. Lim Hong Wei

2. Tam Zhao Wei                  5. Le Jia Ling

3. Chin Shee Wei                  6. Omar Layas

Our first draft was rejected as the layout was not highlighting on any information and many informations were unecessary.

Ms. Deliya commented that our theme was not interesting and not "sexy" at all. She suggest us to change the theme to something more specific as "Life in The Mud" is a big topic to cover where we do not have enough boards to cover everything.

Therefore, we had a few more discussion and decided to change our theme:

MATING & REPRODUCTION ( sounds interesting )~

We then further our research on the mating and reproduction of a mudskipper and fiddler crab and did a mindmap for it. We also analyzed some infographic posters to know more about the layout and elements that makes a good infographic poster. We also researched on the color scheme as well as the fonts to be used in our posters.

Preparing the second draft

Mindmaps, Analyzing posters, color scheme and fonts:

Our second draft was not rejected but there were many things to be amended like the arrangement of our boards and informations.

After we made the final changes, we got the green light from the lecturers to proceed in making our boards.

Our Second Draft:

We started making our boards three days before the presentation day which is on Monday. We worked from morning till night whenever we had an empty slot or when we were free.

I was distributing the jobs and guiding my whole team throghout the whole process. I am glad that my team mates were very participative and cooperative.

We had different personalities in this group where I am the one who was always stressed out and Zhao Wei was the one who is always encoraging us, Hong Wei who made the whole process filled with laughter, Alexis who had so many ideas in her mind that will solve our problems that arised, Jia Ling the funny guys that draws so well, Omar the Libian guys who always asked me what he can do to help. I was really really grateful to have a team like that.

Finally, we finised our board on Thursday, 4.45 am in the morning. I was so relieved that my group was able to finish everything on time. All my team mates went back to sleep but I have to go back and plan for the presentation. I was so tired and my brain stopped functioning but I forced myself to come out with something for the presentation.

The Final Boards:

Documentary Video:

Don't Mess With Nature

Reflection:

Through this project, I have learnt how to make an infographic poster. I also get to gain more knowledge about the mating and reproduction process of a fiddler crab and a mudskipper. The most interesting thing to learn is how both of them attract the females. I also picked up some analyzing skills and leadership through the whole process of this proect.

One of the most important thing I learnt in this project was to have self confidence. I was stressed out and was in a down mood when I saw other groups producing fantastic boards. I looked at my boards and felt like there is no hope for our group to get through this. I was at the edge of giving up and my team mates were very understanding. They kept encouraging me and told me that we have did our very best. Lucky me that I had the BEST team mates ever, so I put myself together again and continue to finish our boards. From this incident, I have learnt not to compare others work with mine but to have self confidence in my work.

In conclusion, I learned how to work with my team mates and not to do everything myself. Having group works were once a nightmare for me due to some special reasons but this time, it was fun, enjoyable, warm, and EPIC! I love this project and also my team mates. ALL HAIL SHINE LIKE RIHANNA!!
