3. Koo Jian Xiang

4. Karen Choo Qiao Ying

5. Rachel Yeo Chi Xuan

Our group was given the topic of a community park.

Project Brief:

After many researches, we chose a community park located at Seremban 2, Seremban , Negeri Sembilan. The park was named S2 City park and we were concerned about the name of the park because all it's characteristics, size and elements of the park says that it is a community park. After consulting Ms Iffa which is our tutor for this project, she clarifies that some parks are named city parks but actually they are community parks. We were so relieved to hear that .

Then, we proceeded to our park visit where I visited the park to take photos for the slides.

We divided our parts to do research on the local communuity park and international community park. Karen and I was in charge of the local community park while the others in charge of the international park.

For the international community park, we chose a park at Singapore named Ang Mo Kio Town Garden East. The reason why we chose that park was because it has a few interesting elements in the park and the history of this park is also very interesting as it was a formal rubber estate.

Moving on, we gathered every information and made the slides for presentation. Me and Madeline was in charge of the slides.

Presentation Slides:

It was our first verbal presentation of the first semester so we had many practices so as to ensure a smooth presentation. We even had rehearsals of our presentation in the discussion room provided in the library where we can look at the slides on the screen and present.

THE PROBLEM!!!

The biggest problem happened to our group for our very first presentation of the semester. We used "key-note", which is a apple software to make our slides. We did bring an adaptor to use our own Mac Books to present but the device did not detect our laptops. Therefore, I had to convert the whole file into a power point file.

The alignment of the slides were off, the transitions and animations were messed up. I was in a panic state but luckily, my team mates were there as they encourage me not to be affected by these problems but to focus on my verbal presentation.

Reflection:

Through this project, I have learnt about the various types of parks which I never knew before like linear parks, pocket parks and community parks. Thanks to this project, I was able to gain more knowledge about the elements that made up a park. It was an eye opener for me as i start to realise the things that I had missed up for the past 18 years. I was able to be observative to my surroundings since then. Wherever I go, I will observe the elements in that particular area and learned to appreciated every small details that made up a amazing environment.

In addtition, I also learnt not to panic or stressed out when problems arrised. Dealing with the problem is always better than worrying. On the other hand, I will also make sure that the slides or videos that I am going to make in the coming projects will be functional so as not to repeat the same mistake in this project.

Finally, Ms Iffa commented on my presentations skills where she liked it. I was over the moon at that moment. Through this project, I realised my strong points and weaknesses where I can improve what I am already good at and also overcome my weaknesses.
