Project 1:
Understanding Different types of Professions and Drawings in the Built Environment
Project Brief:
This project is a verbal presentation which is combined with another two subjects which are English 1 and introduction to the construction industry ( ICI ) therefore this project was named the integration with the combination of 3 subjects in a presentation.
For Introduction to drawing , students are required to research on the types and stages of drawings needed by a town planner.
The presentation composed of 5 to 6 person in a group with 15 minutes given for each group to present. Each group are given with different profession that are involved in the construction industry namely:

2. Interior Designer
3. Town Planner
4. Product Designer
5. Quantity Surveyor
6. Landscape Architect
7. Civil/Structural Engineer
8.Mechanical & Electrical Engineer

Two person were in charge of one topic so we did our own research on the sub-topics that were assigned to us.
Madeline and Jian Xiang were in chrage of the types and stages of drawings required by a town planner. I was helping them with some researches too. We were so confused as there were many websites and all of them gave different information. At last, we were able to combine all the similarities of each website and made a conclusion out of it.
We had several meetings to combine and analyze all our informations. Me, Madeline and Jian Xiang was in charge of making the slides. After getting the slide done, we practiced for our presentation a few times in every meeting we had.
What was new to this project was the usage of the interactive whiteboard which are usually being introduced during degree level. It was a good opportunity for us to get use to presenting using the touch board. By having the interactive whiteboard, it made the presentation more interactive as we are able to draw on the board. Important points are able to be brought out by underlining or circling the points using the board pen.
Our group even booked a discussion room equiped with the touch board to practice our presentation so as to achieve the best presentation.

Reflection:
Through this project, I have learnt how to be independent in looking for answers to my questions. I learnt how to do my own research on the types and stages of drawings needed by a town planner through the internet. Learning to summarize the points from different websites allowed me to imporve my analyzing skills too.
In addition, I gain knowledge of the types and stages of drawings needed by a town planner namely, zoning plan, location plan, layout plan, and master plan. I also got to know the differences between all these plans and their functions.
In conclusion, I had a clearer picture of what does a town planner works with as they plan the whole town.
