Message from the Past
Project Brief:
This project was divided into two parts which is group work and individual. For the group work, students were required to form a group of 7 person.
My group:

We were given with different themes to work on for example, British, India, Greece, China and many more.
Our group got the country GREECE!!
The requirements of this project are:
1. A video clip to show one interesting part of Greece which includes the social strata, culture, architecture, acitivty and so on.
2. An individual reasearch and analysis of the character that was played.

First, we came out with the storyline of the video. Then, we planned all the scenes that were needed to portray every part of the story.
Before we started to film the video, we spent about 2 weeks to prepare and make all the props for each ofthe scene liike, the market place, the parthenon, the prison, the war zone and many more. It was a time consuming process as everything had to be made from scratch.

We have different types of scenes to convey different storylines. We used the area all around Taylor's University and even to the car park area near DK senza.
The scenes are all taken at places that most represent the environment back to the ancient Greece.

I was given the role of Herodotus, the father of all history and a famous person during ancient Greece.
Acting as him was quite challenging as, I am a girl, and he was an old man with lots of hairs around his face and body. So, I ended up covered in cottons to act as the beard and mustach of Herodotus.
Lastly, I have to talk in a man's voice so that it will sound more like Herodotus. He is an interesting character to play but challenging as well.

Reflection:
Through this project, I have studied the whole timeline of Greece where I got to know all sorts of interesting events that have happenned during ancient Greece for example, the Trojan War, The Persian War, The Peloponnesian War, The Olympic games, The Golden Age and many more. In addition, I was able to have an insight look of the culture and social strata of Greece during the ancient time. I also got the chance to act it out in the video which provides a grounfloor for me to experience their lifestyle for real.
On the other hand, I also leanrt how to produce a short film with the correct techinique and methods. I have improved my videography skills and video editing skills through the whole process of completing the video. Besides, I also get to improve my own communication skilss with my friends as we worked together to ensure that there was no argument along the way. We worked very well together which imporved our friendship to a next level.
Lastyly, the most important thing that I have learnt from this project is time management. I was too focus on the video filming part where I have slightly neglected my individual work. I was in charge of editing the whole video and searching for all the extra scenes to be put in. I am also in charge of editing the subtitle of the whole video. I spent 2 and a half days to edit the 20 mins video while my other group mates have started and finished their individuals. Therefore, I have learnt to work smart and to arrange my time well so that it will not affect the outcome of the group or individual work,
