Site Visit

Kuala Selangor Nature Park

Before we went for the site visit, we prepared a checklist for the things that we need to accomplish at the site according to the brief. I drew an interesting checklist for my team mates to jod down all the points that will be used for our individual scrapbook journal as well as for the infographic pop-up poster.

DAY 1

On 8th of February 2015, we gathered at Taylor's at 6.30 am to wait for the bus, time to rock and roll !! The bus took off around 7.30 am and we headed for lunch at a rest station. The whole journey took us about one and a half hours to reach Kuala Selangor.

First stop - Kuala Selangor Nature Park ! We were assigned to plant a mangrove tree to promote the growth of mangroves. We walked quite a long journey to reach the mud area where all the mangroves are planted as we saw many monkeys along the way. The baby monkeys were so cute!!

Nothing is better than a group photo that carries memories in it. We planted our mangrove tree with much satisfaction for our contribution in increasing the number of mangroves. Our boots were full of mud and it made walking more difficult.

After lunch, we began our site hunt. We walked along the pathway hunting for a site that will give us "good grades" as in the amount of information the site can provide. We ended up choosing a site just beside a gazebo.

The reason why we chose this site was because there was many mangroves in that area where there were 3 types of mud- the dry one, moist one and the watery mud.

Another happy group photo without me in it as I was the one holding the camera.

Then we travelled to our accommodation place which is at Depalma Hotel Kuala Selangor. Everyone was having so much fun. Some dived into the swimming pool splashing water at each other while some of the guys played futsal at the open area right beside the pool.

DAY 2

On the second day, we went back to our chosen site to conduct our site analysis and data collection. We first measure the size of the site which is 5mx5m big. Then we move on with our site analysis where all of us stepped into the mud. We observed and recorded all the 5 senses we experienced there. We had lots of fun.

DAY 3

We had some games arranged by the hotel event manager and we had lots of fun in all the games. Then, we packed our belongings and headed back to Taylor's Lakeside University.

Reflection:

I had learnt many valuable things through this enjoyable site visit as I was exposed to nature and given a chance to experience it myself. I learned how to observe my surroundings and to record them into datas.

The best thing in this visit was learning more about my friends as we get to stay with each other for 3 days and 2 nights. I made many life time friends and we enjoyed every moment together. We enjoyed the feeling of the sun piercing into our skins, playing in the mud together, eating together and even having heart to heart talks together. It was the most valuable thing that I couldn't afford with money.

Besides having a great time with my friends, I also get to learn how to relax myself and enjoy the whole process eventhough we were required to do many things in just 3 days 2 nights.

Lastly, I would like to thank FNBE and the lecturers in it for giving us a chance to have this site visit which was so enjoyable and fun.

ENBE ROCKS!!
