The Journal Note

Project Brief:

The journal note is a task for students to capture the information during each ENBE lectures. The information collected are to be recorded in a form of  visual notes. This id to improve their understanding of the content delivered during the lectures by drawing simple and understandable graphics to potray the information given. This also includes mind mapping, doodles, sketches and many more.

Students will need to make visual notes during each ENBE lecture and submit it as a compilation of a few TJNs. For the 4-5 week submission, students will then need to make an overall conclusion of the few topics that they are submitting. At the end of the semester students are required to submit a compilation of all their notes which is TJN 1 to 9.

Reflection:

Through this journal note exercise, I learnt how to transfer informations I recieved from each lectures into diagrams. I am also exposed to visual note taking where I can know pick up an additional skill in collecting data or analyzing informations. Besides using graphics, I found out that colors help me to remember things more easily. By using different colors for different points, I am able to spot the points right away and note it down in my brain. The different colors also makes note taking more interesting than just black and white notes. The colors somehow excites me to read on and on and on.

Besides that, I realized that I wasn't able to take notes during the lectures as I am not able to write and listen at the same time. It's not that I can't but sometimes the slides were too fast or there were too many points at the same time where I ran out of idea on what should I draw or write to simplify the informations given. Therefore, I do not do my TJNs in class. Instead, I will go back to my room and rewind the whole lecture to finish my TJns. This will be a homework for me to work on so as to be able to take notes during the lecture and at the same time pay attention to what the lecturers are explaining.

The  journal exercise also helps me to remember and revise all the useful knowledge that the lecturers have taught us. Sometimes, I gain new knowledges as I rewind the lectures. In conclusion, this is a good exercise to train myself to take notes that are importantly only, not every single word in it just like what I did during highschools.
